Lead On Ice Instructor
Brody Hailwood grew up in Medicine Hat, Alberta where he played his minor hockey growing up. Brody then moved to Okotoks, Alberta at the age of 17 to play for the Jr. A Okotoks Oilers. After suffering issues from concussions he returned home to Medicine Hat and took the opportunity to start coaching. He was an assistant coach for the U16 AAA Tigers for 3 years and then his coaching journey brought him back to Okotoks as an assistant coach for the U18 Bow Mark Oilers of the AEHL. Brody is now an assistant coach for the Jr. A Okotoks Oilers and is dedicated to learning and to developing players to the next level. Brody is a very diverse coach, helping to progress a wide range of age groups such as Novice all the way through to Junior A players. Brody has attended many clinics and courses like Developing Defenceman, Professional Development, and Checking. He is also currently a certified Development 1 Coach with Hockey Alberta.
Goaltender Instructor
Derek is entering his eighth year as a Goalie/Video Coach with the Okotoks Oilers Organization.
Derek began his coaching career with the Calgary Buffaloes where he spent 6 seasons developing their net minders prior to joining the Swift Current Broncos of the WHL. Derek spent 5 seasons with Swift Current while simultaneously coaching the University of Lethbridge Pronghorns (CIS). Derek also consults for Hockey Alberta helping with their regional goaltending development and the Under-16 programs. Derek most recently won a silver medal at the 2017 WHL Cup as goaltending coach of Team Alberta.
Dereks expertise has allowed him to develop minor hockey goaltenders into Junior, Western Hockey League, NCAA, and Professional net minders.
Owner & Head Instructor
Entering into his forth season with the Okotoks Oilers of the Alberta Junior Hockey League, Reid's focus is on player development and assisting players with achieving their Personal Excellence.
A Fitness and Nutrition advocate, Reid is also responsible for off-ice training. He has worked personally with hundreds of athletes to improve not only their game, but also their overall well-being. Reid works with athletes to help them find their next level and push them to new limits on and off the ice. His hockey specific training ensures athletes are making the most of their on and off-ice work.
Reid has been a Skills Coach with Hockey Alberta, participating as an instructor in their Team Alberta/WHL Skills Camp and PeeWee Skills Camp, and has coached at the Alberta Cup. He has also worked for the Gretzky Hockey School as their Plyometric Dryland Trainer. Reid has attended numerous specialty coaching clinics including Checking Skills, Developing Defensemen, Skating, Skills, Small Area Games and Goaltending and is a High Performance 1 Coach with Hockey Alberta.
Reid coached at the Bantam AAA level for five consecutive seasons with the Bantam AAA Xtreme winning the AMBHL Championship in the 2017-2018 Season. Reid spends his offseason working personally with players in leagues such as the Canadian Junior Hockey League, NCAA and Western Hockey League.
